Child Protection In Uganda: More than a Mission

Sarah Lambie is on a mission to protect children in Uganda

A letter from our President

Dear Friend: Loving and serving the vulnerable hasn’t always been a priority for me. There was a time when advocating for child protection in Uganda was the furthest thing from my mind – a long time.

In fact, for the first 30 years of my life, I was quite content with serving myself. But…

21 years ago, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

20 years ago, I packed my suitcase for my first mission trip.

19 years ago, I heard God whisper he’d be sending me and my family far away.

17 years ago, I quit my job and moved to Uganda to serve in ministry. I never looked back.

11 years ago, I ran 30 miles to raise $30,000 for a children’s ministry.

9 years ago, we officially adopted Vanessa, our sixth child.

5 years ago, I said yes to starting Rescue One More with my husband, Scott, and Vanessa.

Mother, father, and three children sitting near a banana grove in Uganda.
Our first week in Uganda, visiting a friend's mother in the village.

One last kiss before heading out for my 30-mile fundraising run.
A father and mother visiting their daughter at school.
Wishing Vanessa good luck on her P7 exams, shortly before our adoption. (Scott graciously shaved his head for one of my fundraising antics.)

Love is an action.

Like yours, my love for Jesus isn’t passive.

My work with Rescue One More isn’t just part of my resume.

It’s part of who I am. Who God created me to be.

If you’re reading this, you probably get it.

Maybe you support nonprofits like ours.

Or volunteer at your local food bank.

Perhaps you quietly pray for your neighbors.

Whatever your mission looks like, it matters.

You may not get the thanks you deserve, but you’re making a difference. In people’s lives. In His kingdom.

He sees you.

Those you serve are blessed by you.

I thank God for you.

Because it’s going to take all of us to restore this broken world.

To love and care for the alien, the orphan, the widow…

Fight for justice…

Usher in His Kingdom, on earth as it is in heaven.

And it’s going to take a lot more than money and ministries.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12

It’s time to bombard heaven with our prayers

As we work to rescue children from the enemy, will you pray over us?

Over the women who risk their lives to bring freedom to children?

For the children recovering from unimaginable trauma?

Especially for the children still trapped in horrific situations?

Will you also allow us to pray for you and the work you’re doing?

Just drop a note in the comments to let us know how we can pray.

We’ll flood heaven with our prayers.

Together, in His power, we will see His kingdom come – one person, one community, one corner of the world at a time.

To Him be the honor and glory, forever and ever. Amen.
