Rescue One More Centers provide child protection services, counseling, and trauma-informed care for children affected by sexual violence in Uganda. These centers offer safe, child-friendly environments where children can access protection, emotional support, and coordinated services that promote healing and recovery.
Through our Centers, children and families find more than a place of refuge. They find a pathway toward safety, healing, and hope.
Comprehensive Child Protection Services
Rescue One More Centers provide far more than emergency shelter. Each Center serves as a hub for child protection, counseling, and case management.
While temporary housing may be offered when a child cannot safely remain at home, our Centers are designed to support the broader needs of children and families affected by sexual violence. Children can access counseling, emotional support, referrals, and child-focused services that promote safety, healing, and long-term well-being.
By bringing together protection services, counseling, and case management under one roof, our Centers help create stronger systems of care for vulnerable children.
Protection
When children are at risk, immediate safety matters. Rescue One More Centers provide secure environments where children can access protection, support, and stability while longer-term resettlement plans are developed with caregivers and local authorities.

Healing begins in safe, supportive environments. Through trauma-informed care and child-friendly counseling spaces, children are given opportunities to process their experiences, rebuild trust, and develop resilience.

Home for Community Action Teams
Rescue One More Centers have dedicated spaces for Community Action Teams (CATs) to meet and conduct case reviews.
CATs bring together police officers, probation and social welfare officers, social workers, healthcare providers, prosecutors, counselors, and community leaders who work collaboratively to prevent sexual violence against children and coordinate responses when abuse occurs. Through regular case reviews conducted at the Centers, CATs ensure court cases are strong and that each child survivor receives comprehensive support across medical, legal, social, and emotional services.
This coordinated, community-led approach helps build safer communities and sustainable systems of protection for children.

What is a Rescue One More Center?
A Rescue One More Center is a child protection center in Uganda that provides counseling, protection services, safe housing, case management, and support for children affected by sexual violence.
Do Children live at Rescue One More Centers?
Children may be referred to a Rescue One More Center for temporary safe shelter by a Probation and Social Welfare Officer when there are concerns about their safety or wellbeing in their current living situation.
While emergency accommodation is available when needed, our goal is not long-term residential care. Whenever possible, we work with families and caregivers to address safety concerns and strengthen the child’s support system so they can remain safely within their family environment. When returning home is not in a child’s best interest, we work to identify safe, loving, and appropriate family-based care options.
Throughout this process, children and caregivers receive counseling, psychosocial support, and case management services to promote healing, strengthen relationships, and support successful family reintegration or resettlement. Our priority is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow up in a safe, stable, and nurturing family environment.
What services are available at Rescue One More Centers?
Services may include trauma-informed counseling, case management, family support, family tracing and resettlement services, referrals, Community Action Team meetings, and emergency safe housing.
Children receiving temporary residential care at a Rescue One More Center also have access to educational support, skills training, mentoring, discipleship, recreational activities, and opportunities for creative expression through singing, dance, and play. These activities help children build confidence, develop healthy relationships, discover their strengths, and continue growing academically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually while they are in our care.
How do Rescue One More Centers support healing?
Healing from sexual violence is a journey that involves more than recovering from trauma. At Rescue One More Centers, we believe children heal best when they are surrounded by safe relationships, compassionate support, and opportunities to rediscover their value, purpose, and hope.
Children have access to trauma-informed counseling and psychosocial support that help them process difficult experiences, build resilience, and develop healthy coping skills. Through individual and group counseling, children are given opportunities to express themselves, strengthen their emotional wellbeing, and continue their healing journey in a safe and supportive environment.
In addition to counseling services, children are paired with caring mentors who walk alongside them as trusted role models and encouragers. Mentors help children develop leadership skills, build confidence, make healthy choices, and envision positive futures for themselves.
Because spiritual healing is also an important part of recovery, children have opportunities to participate in Bible studies, discipleship, prayer, and faith-based mentoring. These activities help children understand their inherent worth, experience God’s love, and find hope and purpose beyond the trauma they have experienced.
By addressing emotional, social, and spiritual needs together, Rescue One More Centers provide a holistic approach to healing that helps children move from trauma toward restoration and renewed hope.
How do Rescue One More Centers work with Community Action Teams?
The Centers can provide meeting and coordination space for Community Action Teams, which bring together child protection professionals and community leaders to prevent abuse, conduct case reviews, and ensure children receive comprehensive support when concerns arise.
