Like clay, children’s hearts and minds are especially fragile. While God ultimately shapes His children, we get to help restore the lives of those who’ve experienced clay-chipping (and sometimes soul-shattering) blows.
In Uganda, the harsh reality is that more than 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys are victims of sexual violence. Their lives, once filled with potential and promise, are shattered by sexual abuse, rape, child marriage, child porn, and sex trafficking. These young souls face unimaginable horrors every day, and their suffering is profound and heart-wrenching.
Here’s the stark truth: Children who disclose abuse are often disowned and face extreme stigma. The effects of sexual violence are devastating and can last a lifetime. Few children ever see justice due to corruption and a flawed and under-resourced legal system.
At Rescue One More, we’re on the front lines of this battle. Our mission is to shield these vulnerable children and help piece their shattered lives back together. Our approach is working! So far, we’ve been able to help over 360 child survivors.
We are dedicated to restoring children’s lives, piece by piece, by offering:
- Safe Housing: Securing safe housing for those who need it most and enhanced community-based care for children able to stay in their homes.
- Justice: Partnering with local officials and prosecutors to ensure perpetrators are held accountable and children are supported through legal proceedings.
- Healing: Offering ongoing emotional and medical care to help children recover and rebuild their lives.
- Prevention: Implementing educational and safeguarding programs to protect children from becoming victims or experiencing future harm.
